One Giant Leap for Single Malt

River Rock is no ordinary Single Malt and our brand partners are no ordinary partners which is why we count ourselves very lucky to include Ocean Vertical in our tribe of likeminded friends.

Ocean Vertical are an ethical adventure company based in East Lothian. Their passion for adventure and the outdoors is matched by their commitment to ensuring the survival of our wild places.

The River Rock team are not shy of an adventure or two.

So when Adrian and Stevie from Ocean Vertical offered to host our very first friends and partners ‘tasting’ event, by taking us coasteering in East Lothian, we jumped in feet first.

The meeting at the car park for our safety briefing was the first time that the River Rock tribe had been in one place.

Joining Mark, Alex and Alice from the River Rock Team were Izzy from the John Muir Trust, Innes from Bramblers, Jason from Common Coffee and Steve from Meander Apparel.

It was clear from the start that for all the adventure and passion, at the heart of Ocean Vertical is a deep respect for the wild ruggedness and natural landscape which was to be our base for our coasteering adventure.

Equally passionate and serious about their respective ‘crafts’, the group of likeminded individuals also know when the time has come to let loose.

For well over an hour, we explored, scrambled, jumped, bombed and swam against the most amazing natural backdrop.

With the sun setting but the adrenalin still high, the team sat down for a well earned dram of River Rock.

A welcome moment of reflection and effortless enjoyment; sitting by the fire with good company, the tang of salt water still on our skin; this was a moment to appreciate all that this planet has to offer and a realisation that we can collectively make a positive contribution.
